Golf courses in Tamil Nadu are well known for their diversity.

Tamil Nadu is a state known for its geographical and cultural diversity. The state has a number of hilly landscapes ideal for golfing. Golf is not popular game in Tamil Nadu but with the upcoming of new golf clubs and courses, golf is gaining momentum.

Now gradually some tournaments and championships are hoisted in some of the golf courses of Tamil Nadu.  Recently the Tamil Nadu Open Golf Championship 2007-08 was held at the Madras Gymkhana Club. History of golf in Tamil Nadu

When we talk about the history of Golf in Tamil Nadu one eminent name which stands out is of C.R Pattabhi Raman. He was a lawyer by profession but had soft corner for sports, he very found of cricket and golf. Once he was declared the golf champion with a handicap of 5.

Pattabhi Raman have won several titles at the annual championships which were held at Ootacamund. He was also selected as the president of Cosmopolitan Club, Madras Golf Club, and the Madras United Club.
