Golf clubs in Trivandrum have rich culture and are famous for their tradition. As we know that golf was brought to India by the British officers, still golf is not a popular game in Kerala. Trivandrum is the capital city of kerala, so it has a rich tradition of golfing. Golf is no as popular as cricket and football in Kerala. Golf is admired and played only by a selected section if people in kerala. In the ancient time golf was played only by British officers, Indians were not allowed to take part in the game.

G V Raja is the man behind formation of Golf club association of kerala. The Trivandrum Golf club is among the oldest golf of India. The club was developed during 1850’s by the Maharaja of Travancore. In the history it was a major site of attraction for tourist and travelers. The club has a history of 150 years but still the club has the smallest golf course. It is evident from this that no initiative was takes in the development of the course. The golf club has a 9 hole short course of Yards – 2645 and par 34. The course is spread over an area of 25 acres with around 3400 trees and over 1000 species of birds. The golf course of the club are mostly straight and wide. The Trivandrum golf course is small, handy course to play golf. Hope the in future the course develops in to a 18 hole course.
