High Range Golf Club

The high range golf club earlier known as The Gymkhana Club was started as a planters club in 1905 with a loan of Rs 2500/- for the planters of kerala. The high range club was later set up in 1909 and completed in 1910.

The high range golf club also has the records for being the first planters club to be electrified. The high range golf club got its telephone connection long back in 1916. The Trivandrum Club is the first club to be affiliated to the High range club in 1915.

The high range golf club was visited by the Lord Pentland, Governor of Madras in 1916. The course was a venue for various Amateur Concert around the year.

The high range golf club was opened for ladies in the year 1941.

The high range club is built in an area of 6 acres and is partially surrounded by river. The planters of Munnar are the members of the club. The high range golf club is associated with 41 clubs in India. The golf course here is well maintained with 9 holes.

In 1934  the Dewan of Travancore was the first Indian to be made the member of the club

Cochin Golf Club

Cochin also known of the ‘queen of the Arabian sea’ is a magnificent place to be, with its natural beauty and charm. It is also famous for the historical monuments and tradition.

The Cochin Golf course was built in the year 1922 and is located over the Bolghatty Palace grounds.  The Bolghatty Palace was once the home of British Governors, it was built by the Dutch in 1744 A.D. The palace is now maintained by the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation.

Trivandrum Golf Club

The Trivandrum Golf Club is one second oldest golf courses in India dating back 1850’s.

The course of Trivandrum Golf Club was established by the Maharaja of Travancore during the reign of Maharaja Sreemoolam Thirunal, the late king of erstwhile Travancore.

Trivandrum Golf Club was the major center for attraction for the tourist and business men who visited Trivandrum. The Trivandrum Golf Club is built adjacent to the Maharaja’s Palace.

The Trivandrum Golf Club having an age of more than 150 years is a heritage structure. It holds the tradition of a century. It is also one of the smallest golf courses in India.

The Trivandrum Golf Club has developed with time. Now it has around 400 members. The course is open round the year for domestic and international tourists.

There have been some allegations connected with the takeover of government land by the Trivandrum Golf Club and other clubs in the State. The revenue and law department should unite and fight against the high court decision of taking over the golf club.
